I've been digging through the buckets of world coins that have been accumulating and found a couple tokens that caught my eye. Can't find much on them, just a couple old ebay listings of coins in much lower grades. So, any opinions appreciated.

First, Ironmonger Token, dated June 23, 1823. London.

Second, T&F Lewis tea dealers. GB
Retained die break on reverse, and lots of issues with the rims.

Here's another one, I found some fun information about it. Thought I would share,

The Iron Bridge, located in Coalbrookdale, a village in Shropshire, England. Completed in 1779 "It was the first arch bridge in the world to be made of cast iron, a material which was previously too expensive to use for large structures." Wikipedia

The first token looks like it may be a memorial token, in regards to someone's death. Mentioned as the third item on this page http://england.prm.ox.ac.uk/english...l-items.html under Memorial Medallions. Also more information here: http://www.24carat.co.uk/frame.php?...ertoken.html

T & F Lewis token is an unofficial farthing. Other similar items here: http://www.simmonsgallery.co.uk/Tokens/Auction/49/

Both are listed in Batty's Catalogue, here's a link to the 2nd one: http://books.google.com/books?id=UI...oken&f=false

xshift,
I'm puzzled by the link provided to Batty's catalogue.

For me, it just goes to a page listing the title and bibliographic information but no content.

I was unfamiliar with the Batty's catalogue as well, it sounds like it was a list of 15,000 tokens compiled from various collections and put together into a book in 1877, so just descriptions, no photos.

The other links were some interesting reads. Thanks xshift!

Here's a great read from The Aeronautical Journal of 1901, with regard to the first token:

I did indeed enjoy reading about the ascent in the 1901 article! Many thanks, philadelphian!

That ballon token is really cool! The anniversary of the first ballon ascent by Garnerin (sp?) was mentioned recently in Parachutist magazine. Aviation stuff is usually fascinating.

Awesome! That is a great story from the The Aeronautical Journal, I will print it and keep it along side the token. It's stories like this that make coin hunts fun...and addicting!

First token is by Issac Earlysman Sparrow (Note the banner on the balloon 'SPARROW').
There are several different variations.

I dont think these were actually used for change, more of a memento piece.
