I am not sure if this is Matte, but if it is it could be worth a lot. It appears sandblasted, but I think it may just be AU or even Proof. Any help would be great, thanks!

Do you win the lottery on a recurring basis? The matte proofs were made for photographic purposes to eliminate reflections by sandblasting the dies. The fact that you can see the flash reflection should tell you it isn't a sandblasted surface. The mint will have produced one or two at most, but any enterprising individual could produce one if they so wished. This is a case where provenance would be everything.

Looks like a worn standard 1937 1d.(business strike)
There are 3 business strike varieties and 2 proof varieties (3rd possible)
David Grooms ID of British 20C bronze coin varieties is the book you want.
Strange toning on your coin.
