I'm just curious really, where do forum members who collect UK gold sovereigns tend to buy there's from?

Thanks in advance.

If you want a proof or "brilliant uncirculated" sovereign then you have to source them from The Royal Mint. Just keep in mind that with The Royal Mint you're paying premium for a box essentially.

If you're happy with a bullion version (the coin is practically identical to the Brilliant Uncirculated) then there are online dealers around. I have used bullionbypost.co.uk in the past. They're good because they have no minimum order requirement which is nice if all you want is 1 or 2 coins.

Thanks, I've used bullionbypost myself in the past. I was just wondering if there were any other more competitive options, although their prices on their website seem good. Though not so good on ebay! I'm surprised people pay such high premiums for purchasing from them on the third party website.

Thanks for the reply.

The premiums on bullionbypost aren't too bad. A gold sovereign typically costs about £200. It only gets expensive when you start after the older sovereigns, like the shield back version from Victoria's reign.

I've used a firm called Chard in the UK and their prices were lower than The Royal Mint for bullion gold sovereigns.
