I bought two 1955-S rolls a while back and I went through these this weekend. I have a small amount of coins where the "55" looks strange. It looks either hollowed or there are 5's on top of fives.

The "9" on this particular one is HUGE, these pictures don't do it justice. I'll see if I can get a few better ones, no promises it will happen tonight - Its been a long weekend so far. = )

I have two rolls of the 55-S and I am about 1/2 way through the first roll. I have like 5-6 of these. They look strange, as if the inner curls of the 5's have been hollowed out. Stand them up and it would represent a "half pipe" that the "X-Games" use.... LOL.

The tops on some of the 5's are peeling, look like a light lamination issue.....

Hummm the 3rd pic from the top looks like there is a Ghost "S" north of the primary "S".....maybe its me eyes, its dirt late here !

Wow, here is one showing two "1's" and I don't know whats up with the "9"..........

The Date is normal for that year. I checked other examples I had. The example you posted is a very nice die state. The ones I checked were a later die state. On the 1 you could still see the notch in the 1, but it was weaker because of die wear. The Bump on the fist 5 peaked my interest also. But when I check they were all looking like that. The rest of the images are Machine Doubling on the area you wondered about being a doubled die. The biggest clue is the normal sized overall devices. On the inside loop of the 9, the coin took a hit in that location.

I looked through most of the 2nd roll, and there are more of the same, about 20-25 looking the same, so I will chalk it up to being a die that appears normal. The inner loop on all has that same sort of look, its probably just extra metal or they carved out the die a little too severe.

No big deal, I thought I'd ask. I bought these for the potential of S/S or S/S/S but nothing so far. = )
