yotie there is no mention on either the coin or even the COA about the quality of the metal. The COA also just lists it as 1 ounce silver.

@basebal21: Thanks for sharing. When I read your recent comment about the 9-11 medal it reminded me of a previous thread about the medal somewhere here on CCF and how you expressed your displeasure with it. I meant to ask you about your thoughts then but it slipped my mind until being reminded via this thread.
I hope that you didn't take the comments that followed my question as being directed toward you or your feelings about the medal - they were not.
My comments were a personal opinion and in no way were meant to disparage yours - I'm not that way.
I personally like the allegorical representations of Liberty, loss, resiliency, strength and healing on the medal and believe its design will someday become more appreciated for what it attempted to be. I believe the medal tries to pay homage to the horror of the past events while putting focus on our ability to seek a more positive future. I agree, however, that the meaning behind such imagery is not immediately apparent and may not convey the intended message to all those who come to casually view it.
I know that I will never forget that late summer day in 2001.
Thanks for the thoughtful discussion.

Commems dont worry I dont take it personally, I didnt take your comments in a negative way at all. I actually found them interesting since since its unusual to hear a positive perspective on it.
In all honestly I would have liked it or at least not had a problem with it if they had done a series with a medal for each of the events and then ended it with that one as a positive going forward message. Thinking about it now that actually sounds like it could have been a fantastic set. Even in the set though I personally would like to see the water conveyed in a better way. It looks somewhat like an after thought in its current form.
They do such a good job overall with commemoratives and medals that it just stands out like a sore thumb when they drop the ball. Usually the complaints are more along the lines like the Girl Scout just not being attractive or using the same reverse for the Generals, but even both of those the images were completely relevant to the subject at hand.

Looks like $57.95 is the price the mint has determined on these sets.

The $57.95 price point is less than I expected - that's good news! I thought that its price might be more aligned with the recent Five Generals set ($74.95). My interest definitely continues!

Just noticed the Mint's web site now has more info about the set: https://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/w...ory_rn=10111The silver Roosevelt Presidential medal will be 40.6 mm in diameter, as expected. I also read the following: Quote: In 2013, the United States Mint received authority to produce presidential medals in .999 fine silver. They were previously only produced in bronze. Something tells me we are going to be seeing more of these silver Presidential medals in the coming months/years!

I got the e-mail today and added it to my wish list. I will have to wait until after the holiday to make a commitment.
If I get it, this will mark the first time that I have ever bought two commemorative sets in one year.
