I ordered a TR set. I like Teddy and have always wondered why he isn't on any currency, outside of the Presidential dollar coin, while Grant is on the $50. I like the new & first silver presidential medal too.

I'll be in for one set for now. I rather have a commemorative coin of Teddy.... thanks to him that we have many great classic coins that inspired many generations.

Theo is worthy of a silver Dollar and a 1 oz. gold coin (both of which should have been issued long ago!), but I'll be happy to have my C&C Set

This is the set that's most got my attention this year, excited to see pictures when they begin shipping. I'm not into Baseball, sorry basebal21. Got the 5 Star General card set for my Mother this year, she loved it! I was surprised by the poor quality of both the silver dollar but especially the half. Yikes! I'd love a set but will likely put those $$ elsewhere as it's been a lean year. commems, I hope you don't mind; I've been really digging the 9/11 coin lately. I hated it at first but the more I think about the classical "language" I find the design rather pleasing. The eagle on the reverse especially, that thing is AWESOME. I find the minimalism of the design attractive, including the lack of fineness marking.

@devilsbite: I don't mind at all! I've been a vocal fan of the US Mint's 9/11 medal here on CCF and elsewhere. I've liked the medal's use of allegorical symbols since I first saw the designs.

I received my set the other day and I am very impressed with the set in general. It is a honorable & over due tribute to our 26th President.
IMO, the .999 silver medal is the crown jewel of this set.

Quote: ...the .999 silver medal is the crown jewel of this set. Agreed, and the OGP is very well done. At least the equal of the Lincoln C&C Set Theo deserves a 1-oz. gold coin with the St. Gaudens Double Eagle on the reverse, for obvious reasons.

It is the scratch in his left lapel that seems to be in the coin & not on the protective plastic.

Thank you for the photos! A good looking set. I still have it on my wish list. I hope I can squeeze it in before the stop selling it.

I had to go back and look - I could have sworn I ordered this the day it was released... and according to my history it was not. I had this in my cart when I ordered my HOF coins and it is on the way now. I really like the looks of the silver medal - and the presentation looks to be quite nicely done.

These are the first pictures I've seen of this. I definitely want a set. The only issue is whether I'd be better off getting one now from Mint, or waiting for a while to see if they drop from issue price on secondayr market, like most Mint products do.

Quote: Ok, I got the medal & now am wondering if I should return it. Seems to be scratches in the silver coin (front). @Southern92: If you're sure it's a scratch on the medal, I would return it for a replacement. You'll have to send the entire set back and wait for a bit to get a replacement, but that's better than having your eyes go immediately to the scratch each time you look at the medal. Remember, coins/medals don't heal! Good luck!

Finally picked mine up from the post office yesterday. Classy handsome set very much in line with the 5-star Generals set issued last year. The special sets on the whole have improved over the last few years.
