Lots of glare but it does not look like an RPM to me.

Theres a ton of dammage on that coin. The glare makes it impossible to determine if the coin is an RPM. I suggest shooting a pic of the coin outside in daylight and seeing if that works, or instead of using flash directly on the issue, turn the coin 90 degrees and shoot a pic. In other words, have the bottom of the "S" pointing left or right, the flash shouldnt affect the area in question that much.

If you have to use flash, you can dull down the blast a little by using a sheer piece of fabric draped over the flash itself. a little piece, and some tape and that should work for a few pics.
