This requires fruit.

Apollodotos I coins are certainly a must have for the square coin enthusiast. A hulking piece of unconventional ancient bronze, what more could and Indo-Greek Collector want?

I really don't like the term double unit, triple unit or Quadruple unit. Although we may never know what the denomination was called one would assume is a some fraction of an Attic drachm (tetradrachm). We may never know what the relationship of intrinsic value gold, silver and bronze in this period in this part of the world so it wouldn't hurt to try to all the different denominations.(We can plan a trip to a museum to the big ones, 'cuz we can't afford it.)

This ruler of actually quite interesting in himself. I urge you all to read about him, and the coinage he produced. He minted round silver coins, big bronze coins and believe it or not square silver coins. (I have one)

The round coins were thought to be rejected by the local populous (Indian's) as they were unfamiliar with this shape and would much prefer square coins. So all his square quarter silver units were drachms made to the Indian Standard of 2.45 g (high purity, est. 96%)

Mine!!

It had my name on it...Notice the AN monogram...Ancient Noob....

Bactria (Indo Greek) Indian Standard Weight..
Apollodotos I (174-165 BC)Chach Mint
AR Drachm 17.4mm x 17.0mm @ 2.29g
Obverse: Elephant Standing Right- BASILEWS APOLLODOTOY SWTHROS around AN monogram below
Reverse: Kharoshti Legend-(same as echizentos and the obverse) Zebu bull standing monogram A

What I've found available to read about him is very interesting. I would love to score one of his silver coins.
