No good pictures, probably just culls. Eh, £3, I can sell them 30p each to someone for a pretty fair profit. If theres nothing good in there, ill probably try a £5 BIN. Hopefully there'll be some barbs or a Carausius in the mix.

I passed up that lot. Couldnt see a good coin to make it worth risking. I know 30p per coin is a price I can get for the worst of stuff - with that lot, the fees would destroy any profit.

I doubt I can do much with the radiate but it could sell for a couple of quid if I get lucky. The lot is from ebay.

Oh yes - that is a good plan.
I had a plan to buy up some culls (as I once did) and then make a hoard. Put some nice ones on top, make a little display. Jazzy.

PP what do the school do with them? Ben, someone has had a crack at cleaning your lot already, but the key point is that the base metal looks ok on the radiate under the crud and BD (red stuff), so I would have thought you could buff it up a bit?

Its certainly worth a try. But I dont have as much time on my hands right now and it may be worth more as an uncleaned coin than a low grade Aurelian. someone has had a whack at them, but in my experience, that doesn't rule out a nice find. People overlook some nice stuff. Carausius is the best to find in these.

YOC I have a project on the go at the moment, I am donating a few coins to a local school, along with a bit of text for each coin. They are getting a handful of "change" as well. Thought it might be nice for the to see some uncleaned ones as well.

Yep, Carausius fetches decent money even in poor grade, Allectus galley crops up too occasionally. I like the Gallic empire coins for a sort through.......often get a Qunintillus when the seller thinks its a Claudius Gothica and who knows, maybe one day a Proculus PP , I take in Roman coins to schools which I work in all the time, ...otherwise they are restricted to handling packaged WRL rubbish. I take loads of classes out metal detecting on the school fields too as a freebie as they love digging up coins. Seeing their faces when they dig up a nice Victoria penny or a George III is great.

Ive had 2 allectus galleys and perhaps 10-12 Carausii come through. People just dont look out for it. A proculus would be veeery nice.
And thats some good stuff you do with schools. A guy once had us detect in our school's long jump pit...suspicious number of predecimal pennies and musket balls came out!

Can't compete with that YOC! I doubt there is anything locally which would be worth MDing, even if I had one.
