Went to the bank today to pick up some $2 bills. One was a bit interesting because it had a (relatively) low serial number and a star, although the note itself is a bit beat up:

At first, the teller was trying to only give me new notes, but when I told her I loved the old notes as well she mentioned she had an old $100 that she had been saving in order to "give it a good home". It's pretty worn and has some writing, but it's still a Series 1934A:

I'm guessing that, due to condition, neither of these are worth much (if anything) over face value, but I figured I'd check here just in case. I'm actually sorely tempted to hold onto the $100 and add it to my "type" collection, except that I have so far avoided collecting anything over $20 due to the increased cost and I'd probably want to hold out for something without the writing (the condition doesn't bother me).

So, whaddaya think? Any premium on these?

i like the 1934 $100, I would hold onto it for sure. also I would hold onto the $2 star note. as for premium, not sure what the 1934 would bring but the $2 bill might bring $3-$4 over face.

The $100 should be with some over face also. Nice!

Yeah, I guess the $2 bill is a no-brainer. The $100 is harder to justify keeping, simply because it means tying up $100. But I think I'll hold onto both of them for now. If I ever find another Series 1934 $100 without the writing for face value, I can always swap it out and spend this one.
