Theoretical question: An opportunity came up to purchase a complete Wheat cent album. I believe it is 1909-2002 (I could be off a bit). EXCLUDING the "Doubled Dies".

What is the lowest amount that this album would be worth. To clarify, at what price would it be a "no brainer" to purchase? Assume every coin is G4, worst case scenario.

Haha I would do it! Today happens to be the day I started sorting my wheats and opened my dansco. My eyes hurt and it looks like I have a lot of empty spots!

I would say if you are going on all G4 coins just go to Numismedia and price out the keys and semi keys... for everything else, just assume $.05 to $1.00 each and you should be fine. Sure you could get a lot of them cheaper in G4 on ebay but this is a good starting point I think.

09vdb - $8.63
09svdb - $750
09s - $79.35
10s - $9.20
11s - $23.50
11d - $4.60
12s - $17.25
12d - $6.04
13s - $9.78
13d - $2.53
14s - $13.80
14d - $156
15d - $1.55
15s - $11.50
22d - $12.65
24d - $19.55
26s - $2.01
31s - $78.20

Grand total of $1,206.14

Curious to hear more of this story as it unfolds!

rking is right about the "important" coins. Most of the value would go to those dates. However, pricing a full set is difficult. Does it include the 60 and 70-S small dates? I think $1300-1500 would be excellent as long as none of the coins are damaged or corroded.

Decided to pass on the Wheat cent album.

Instead ended up buying a nearly complete large cent album! Will post the results in US Classic Coins later.
