To followup, when I posted this I was unaware of the Franklin Commem. Interestingly in 2006 there will be 2 $1 Franklin commems issued for the tercentenery of his birth- one with his image as a young man, one with his image as an old man. Reverses will have"an image related to Ben Franklin's role as a patriot and statesman", and "an image related to ...(BF's) role in developing early coins and currency of the new country". Mintage limit is 250k for each.
An act authorizing a Commem (silver $1 and gold $5) commemorating the SF mint and the 100th anniversary of the great SF earthquake (mint was one of the few large buildings downtown to survive quake and fire) was Referred to the Subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade, and Technology in May- it's HR 1953, if one wants to lobby for it. The majority of bills never make it out of comittee. It has 268 cosponsors, which is a good thing however.
2007 Jamestown commems will be both a $5 gold(100k mintage limit) and a $1 silver(500k) LR, AK deseg is HR 358. S 582. I think this bill is dead in the water- it hasn't been referred to committee, as far as I can determine.
And of course there is the much dicussed presidential $1 series to begin in 2007, Gold $10 first ladies series-senate Act 1047, HR 902. House bill has already passed. Senate Bill has made it out of committee and is on the calendar- will come up when senate leadership (ie Frist) determines. I haven't read them to see if there are differnces that would need to be resolved between 2 versions of the bill- because I HATE the idea of both of these series. Harding on a coin, Nixon, Johnson? VERY, VERY Bad. Almost as bad as Nancy Reagan or Rosalyn Carter being on a coin ( I don't like the idea of living folks on coins regardless of who they are-too much like the image of a monarch on a coin for my taste) Don

I read in CoinWorld last week that the RCM was going to issue 1/2 ounce silver coins with a timberwolf on the reverse instead of a maple leaf. This is suppose to happen in 2006. Do any Darksiders know when in 2006 that might be? I don't want to miss this. Their website didn't have anything about it.

Canada is usually the FIRST country to offer up the years first gold and silver bullion so I would assume those Timberwolves will be available Jan. 1 if you can find a dealer to get them from. Glad to hear that as those will be a MUST HAVE for my wife and I. Also watch for the pending U.S. 24K pure gold bullion coins that will probably be reproductions of the old Buffalo nickel next year. This will give the mint staff another year to come up with new designs for the program and guarantee them the opportunity, at the same time, to have record gold bullion sales next year. Just hope it happens!!!

Do you know of a dealer who would carry it?
