For around the last 10 boxes or so, I have been setting aside all 88P and 88D cents to check for the transitional variety. An estimate would be about 5-600 coins saved up in a container. I recently went through them and just finished the process yesterday. 0. Nada. Nothing. (Did get one with no trace of initials though). I had three rolls set aside with wheat enders and decided to go through them-- there were a total of 3 88's in the 150 coins. I could not believe my eyes when one of the three was what I was looking for!! I didn't take pics, but it matched 100% of the markers listed on two sites for State A of Die 4. 1988P RDV-006.4a I had one or two that were 'iffy' but with this one in hand, it is easy to see the difference. Same with the WAMs.

Congrats on the 88D- from what I hear, that one is much more rare! This is the only pic I have- you can't really see much and the G isn't clear, but it shows the condition. It is a little more red in hand... The phone's pic came out a bit darker. Can't really see any of the die scratches/markers, but I was able to match every one listed :)

Yeah, that is the best I can do with my cell. It is there though-- actually the parts of the G that differ from 88's are stronger than 3/4 of the 89's I looked at to compare, before I pulled up pics online. Maybe I will try to hold the 60x to my cellphone when I get home. No idea if it will work...
I knew when I posted it that would be said... no worries! I would have said the same thing to anyone posting that pic. If I could put up pics of the markers, even if just the reverse markers, its an amazing match even without the FG

These are a little better. Hard to get the hook on the G in the pics, but it is better than the other pics I put up. I could only get one of the die scratches to show up in pictures without being drowned out by the flash.

Very nice example Justin. They really are scarce, a least in my area, and they're easy to identify once you have one in hand.

That is interesting (and unfortunate) snowman.
When was this ''officially'' accepted? I'm only 4 months in the hobby. Coin collected all my life but never knew of all these varieties. Even one of my price guides from 10 years or so doesn't make any mention of WAMs, but my 2013 one does. Thought the discovery time line was interesting with those as well.
