I have had this for years and don't know where and when I got it. I am assuming it is a replica coin because there is little or no wear, and others I have seen on the web are not this nice. Does anyone know a definitive way to determine a replica from a genuine coin.

The base that the indian is standing is too round in the the orginal the base seems to be more spread out and flatter, also above the date there should only be one line. There are two on yours. Also on yours there is a line above and below the word cents, in the orignals there is no line. I'm no expert yours could be a variant that I haven't seen. I'm going to say yours is a replica.

I agree, I suspect you may have a replica.

It does not look right to me but there is no one thing I can put my finger on, and I am not familiar with all the varieties for this series and there are several of them.

Thanks for the info. Up until 2 days ago I thought it was a commemorative medal as I hadn't noticed the "CENT" on the reverse. I also checked out some web sites and some did have two lines over the date and some had similar obverses, but having said that I don't think it is a genuine coin, and I have no idea what a contemporary counterfeit looks like.

99.9% that it is a replica.
