A total of 48 years and 3 months. (Oct 1876 to Jan 1925) died at the age of 79.

And before you ask, NO I don't remember the occasion or attend the funeral.

Correct OldDan except it comes out to 49 years and three months.
I though that one might be interesting considering how many people today don't stay in the same job for 49 months let alone 49 years.

Here's a Darksider question if anyone wants to give it a shot:

"Black dog" was a denomination of coin for the West Indies
possessions of what nation?

Hi! Checking the dates again, I think OldDans math is correct! To make 49 years he would have had to make it until October of 1925! Mike

Longnine009,My Guess to your Trivia Question...
"Black Dog" is the name given to the Cayenne Sous when it was introduced in the English islands in the West Indies. Pieces of base silver coins are sometimes called this as well.In more modern terms it has to do with the center or bullseye area on a dart board.

There are three kinds of men in this world my friend, those who can count and those who can't count.

Sorry OldDan your figures are correct.

Hey Longnine009, please let me know the results of your above trivia question. It is a tough one, because other definitions are very close to the one I found. Chasing these down is very educational and fun! My guess is in my above post. Thanks! Mike

OK, I'll throw in a random darkside trivia question-
What Island Nation issues a 25c coin with a bird usually called a "longtail" on the reverse? Tourists there are also referred to as longtails...

You mentioned English Islands, which is close enough I guess. The answer on the card is Great Britan.

Thanks Longnine009, I "guess" I should have given "less" detail.(sometimes less is more!) Maybe the "British" Isles would have been more accurate! It was a tough question, as other nations later copied the term for some of their early coinage. I think you have started a fun thread! Here's my trivia question....

When did the U.S. mint institute the practice of having its coins checked annually by an ouside group? What did this group eventually become known as?

The U.S. Assay commission. Established by the same provisions that established the U.S. Mint in 1792. Public members were authorized to serve on the commission in 1837.

How about the Canadian coin with Elizabeth's likeness on one side and a Monarch Butterfly on the other. Just minted this year.
Take a look;
