Happy Thanksgiving yanks new collector found this looked a little odd to me is the writing to high or is it just old and damaged

I have found that many of the cents from the 60's have the "L" in "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST" right up against the rim like your coin does. I think it is fairly common. I would hang on to it and compare it to the others that you will find in the future and compare them. Then you will know if it is different.

The 1968 cents mostly looked like your coin if you are referring to the outside devices touching the rim. Thus the new design for 1969 Cents.
