I don't know the variety except for the 7 feathers but I would give your coin at least an AU but would go closer to MS but the darkness of your pic (very nice pic by the way) except for the darkness very nice coin Gary too

The coin is cleaned - harshly. No grade.

Maybe it's just the color or something, but that doesn't look real to me.

it was orginally in a necklace peice. I get the feeling that someone dipped it in deep permanent black chemicals or something. Blast!

I don't think olive oil will help. Maybe a dip or a long swim in acetone might get some kind of results. This is ONLY my humble opinion.

To me it like 1 of 2 things may have put the black crush on in. 1- Damp-Very wet paper roll. 2- A house fire while in roll or book. as for cleaning

Definitely AU but the Altered Surfaces will remain altered as it looks heat-created/blow-torched. It will be interesting to see what various treatments do to help the look.

This one has seen a harsh cleaning. Acetone won't do much to help this lady and if she is dipped it'll look even worse. All those gouges and hairlines will become even more obvious. I tend to grade these common Morgans a bit tougher than the rest of those who have posted. I would go no higher than VF+ to XF-...too many deep gouges and rim problems. One can find a pristine AU-MS, problem free slabbed or raw example for $20-$25

Looks like someone attempted some artificial toning and it went bad.
Halfabustisbetter is probably not far off on the how.
