Thanks for the input on the grading and edge error in other topics.
I think I have narrowed the Overton variety as O-118,(R4) can any one confirm? I am still learning. Thanks!

This is a pretty interesting variety. I think the engraver had exceeded his weekly allotment of rum when he did this one. Looking at the shield almost makes me seasick; wonder what it did to him.

Edit to add: I just looked at the other thread (for the record, please combine stuff like this in the future, but no biggie) and noticed nobody had talked about grade. I have this at a nice XF, recovering from a very old cleaning to the extent that it's almost certainly market-acceptable - which is to say, a TPG would sign off on it.

Thanks for all the help!

suggestion duly noted.

I have 2 coins currently at ANACS for Grading/Authenticity....is PCGS the preferred TPG for Capped Bust Overton Varieties if I decide to send it in?

PCGS is always the preferred alternative with the exception of Morgans, if they offer the attribution. They are (generally) trustworthy with the attribution, and favored in the marketplace. If you're holding for 5 years or more, send it to ANACS.

As regards Morgans, nobody in their right mind goes anywhere but ANACS.
