Here are my first two coins from a series that has appealed to me since I began studying ancients. Comment is invited on the dealer's attribution, the prices paid and the condition of the pieces.

I would say the Philip is worth what you paid for it. Its a very nice coin. I would call it a solid "Fine" grade. The second coin is far scarcer and is also "F" I would value this one at about $200 or so. So I would say your definitly in the good.

Seleucid coins are quite beautiful although they represent the decline of Hellenistic art, which is funny becuase some of the very high grade coins have a photo realistic Leonardo di Vinci kinda bust. This is a dangerous road you travel TJ, these coins only get more interesting and beautiful the more you look at them.

I think you got taken... The Philip is only worth $120!! But then you did ok on the Antiochos. It is worth at least $150 (realistically, probably closer to $200 as someone else mentioned).

:)

Now, if you want to get into the REALLY insteresting stuff, start looking at Seleukid bronzes...

Cheers!
John
