Hi all. Found a bunch of older Hutt PNC's in my collection. One of particular interest is a 1972 un circulated First day issue set. It contains 6 pages of first day issue stamps and coins. Anyone know of it or it's value? I see some of the pages I have for sale ( not sold or selling) for crazy prices. Are these things valuable? Thanks so much!!

Hi, I collect some of those old Hutt PNCs. They vary in value quite a lot - there are only one or two that command top value. '72 was generally a lower mintage year so might be worth something - like you way, there are some listed at crazy prices and they don't sell because the prices are, well, crazy...

Hi,
Some of these sets do sell for big dollars - I for one would be interested if you had the 1974 proof set of coins PNC. Each year Hutt brought out an UNC set and a Proof set of the 6 coins as PNCs.
The 1974 proof set is the on missing from my collection!
Cheers

Umm, as far as I can tell, the HRP did not issue coins until 1976. There are no coins dated 1972, or 1974 for that matter.

Sap,
We are not talking about Hutt River Province.
We are talking about Hutt Commemoratives which was a New Zealand company that specialised in PNCs from around 1969 to 1977.

Ah, gotcha. This thread was in the Australian coins subforum, so I was assuming Hutt River Province.

Hi Sap, Yep there is often confusion when the word Hutt is used! Hutt Commemoratives produced a large number of PNCs with Australian Coins. Each year from 1970 they produced PNCs in both Proof and UNC for each of the Australian denominations. The last ones were produced in 1978. As well they produced a number of PNCs associated with the 1970 Captain Cook commemorations and some other events in 1971 and 1972. All up they produced over 100 different PNCs with Australian coins in them. Many of these PNCs attract large values at auction, both ebay and the traditional auction houses. A full set of PNCs from any year will often make over $300 and in some case over $500 (plus buyer's commission) depending on the year. Cheers Peter (notcb)

Shane, Have a look at the following website: (Paul Owen's) http://121.223.202.9/pa-inc/index1.htmlThis will give you some idea of the large number of PNCs that were issued in the 60's 70's and 80's, well before the RAM, Perth Mint and Aussie Post got on the bandwagon in 1995. Companies such as Hutt, 99, Nuphil etc. produced an amazing range of PNCs. Cheers Peter (notcb)

I have the NU 36 Nuphill Cook PNC released in Cooktown January 1970. Nuphill produced 722 Nu 34 PNC covers identified by the numbering ; D440 001- D440 722. They also produced 287 Nu 36 PNC covers indentified by the numbering; D4401 001- D441287. My Number 36 is D 440 960!. Under microscope I've compared the Red card Specimen Cook 50 and the 50 in my PNC and there are clear differences. Ray Dobson hasn't been able to shed any light and only Varian was involved with this release. The coin is brilliant compared to the Red card Specimen. Any info is welcome.
