Got this from the same source as the Saloninus (and the Flavius Victor (maybe) and the Anonymous Antioch issue though the guy forgot to pack those two so I should get them tomorrow). He put a couple of extra coins in to give to Pish's school project and I bought a nice example for my collection. The guy thought they were all Honorius, but one was Theodosius II - I made sure the one[s] I sent Pish was Honorius though, much more interesting fellow (who's tagline is about trouser banning?) Anyway, the coin is nice. Not as full as the one I hand cleaned but a nicer example. Still has oars on the galley and Constantinopolis' fingers are distinct. But still missing facial features.

I didn't know that any of this type were minted in bronze-- all I ever see are the aureii. Hmm. Might have to get one.

You'll have a parcel on your doorstep tomorrow! If you like, I can email you the tracking number (not that it has much use over such a short time).

Tracking not required, unless it doesn't turn up. Have to get there before hubby!

A very interesting coin. I love how the bust is intact. These you don't see everyday. These are popular in gold, but in bronze it is something special.

I have this type, but of Honorius's brother Arcadius: I have a forward-facing Theo II as well, but I haven't photographed it yet.

Heres one I cleaned myself. Its got a good shine which doesn't show on this picture. Reverse is very nice. I have a feeling the obverse picture was taken during cleaning. THe Theodosius II is also nice...gave it the once over and it looks like the mouth is still intact...might need a wax, it looks pretty shoddy on camera.

I like these front-facing portraits better in bronze! Will definitely look for some.

I too have been interested in adding a front facer for some time (Arcadius or Honorius) but they seem few and far between in perfect condition.
Maybe it is just me but I can suffer higher end coins that aren't perfect but the slightly cheaper/more common coins I always want to absolutely nail it and get a bit too fussy for my own good. I have probably passed over one or two of these coins that I should have snapped up in the last 6 months.
Maybe being overly fussy is my subconscious trying to restrict the affect of coin addiction...
