... a contest. In the past my few paltry contests have been won within an hour. So, I have been planning this for a long time. ANY hint of my past has been carefully hidden so as to not to provide clues. The Internet and Google will not help you. I offer: --------- "Where in the World?" Where in the world did I buy this and what is it? 1.) The easy question first: what is it? I TOLD you it was easy! Now, on to something more difficult: 2.) In what country of the world was this coin purchased? Getting harder? The best is yet to come. 3.) In what CITY of this country did I purchase the coin? 4.) I landed in this country in city "A" but left this country from city "B". It was the same airport. Explain this discrepancy to my satisfaction. The winner will receive a small handful of pocket change from this country which few collectors have. Also, a few others from a country next door. Is this devious? I designed it such. Usual membership time and post numbers apply. Questions will be answered based upon the phase of the moon, my cat's current behavior and the extent to which the wine has loosened my tongue.

Is it a Maria Theresa Thaler.
Purchased in West Germany West Berlin.
Landed in West Berlin but left from Berlin as the wall fell.

Maria Theresa Thaler, WELL worn, is correct! I was never in either Berlin. Only Frankfort and Trier. Professor Plum, in the Library, with the candle stick? No CLUE today unless I feel guilty. My HINT threw you off the track! So, will someone guess Austria now?

OK, a HINT:
On a dark and cloudless day A Concord flew to chase away The hungry moon from Sol's bright ray And that, dear friends, is all I'll say.

PROVE ME WRONG! Please do, as I tried years ago to find any reference to my purpose in the country. Had no luck.

As a complete guess how about Hungary Buda & Pest - the Budapest Pest County line runs through the middle of the airfield.

rooneydog, You ARE thinking! A split city. But in Hungary, in the worn condition? Was it returned there after serving somewhere else? Think globally, act locally.
Never been to Hungary.
Not a HINT, but ... a certain member of the CCF group is aware of this contest and is bared from entering. My thanks to him for his advice.
Oh, I am giving away too much information.

OK last guess before I go to bed.
The Maria Theresa was used in India so maybe you purchased it in Bombay in 1996 and then left from Mumbai. Maybe it used to hang around a sailors neck.
