WhitLew as stated above they are a result of PMD. Quote: he handed me down some of his old collection If there are some nice coins do not hold the coins with your fingers touching the obverse/ heads or reverse/ tails. You can leave fingerprints marks from the oil in your skin. Do not try to clean the coins!!! This will de-value them. Again this site is devoted to, "Education is the key to collector success!"

Looks like someone hammered on it and tried to cut it. It's only worth around Two Cents. It's made from bullet shells.

Welcome to CC!
Sorry to tell you, but your coins have been damaged. They are not mint errors.

"How old are the other pennies?"
Some of the wheat pennies are as old as 1915. I also have some old quarters in the mix and a few half dollars and plenty of Canadian money. I think my dad enjoyed having the collection more than just having things of value. Is there a specific site that is really helpful for me to know more about my coins? Thank you to everyone who replied. Very helpful!

I suggest you buy a Red Book. It will give you an idea of rarity and approximate value. Plus you'll learn a lot from it.

Do any of the 1915-1930 wheat pennies have any mint marks (s or d)?

I have been doing a lot of research online, but most of the sites contradict each other. I have thought of purchasing a magnifying glass so I can check for doubling and things like that. Not many of my wheaties have S or D, but a few of my 1960+ ones do. I am almost certain my 1970-S is doubled but I can't get a clear picture to upload.

You should also look for a 1931 s, 1922 d or 1922 without a d. Also, the 1955 has doubling. You should keep your eyes out for this one, because it is pretty valuable.
