hi everyone, hope all is well for you. Here is what I need help on- I have stumbled across a 1928 d red seal $2 bill specimen note but even after a few hours looking I haven't been able to find any real good info on it. do they go for a significant premium over a non specimen or are they nothing special? anyone know where I could learn more about these in detail? thanks guys- justin *** Edited by Staff to clarify topic title. I suggest going to http://www.ngccoin.com and going to the bottom of the screen. Look for the PMG link, its NGC's Paper money site. I know you can search there, but I have not in quite some time.At least that'll keep ya busy til the paper money pro's come in.

If it is a true BEP produced specimen it will go for significantly more than a similar non-specimen.
Without a picture, however, the best you are going to get is uninformed speculation on a discussion board.

I will have pics up soon, It's being sold for $25 as a normal note, the people don't seem to know what they have as they are selling silver dime rolls for $60 each as well. it is in pretty beat up shape. would you guys take a shot in the dark on it? it looks normal but has "Specimen" in red letters above the left side of the front. I don't know if it says it anywhere else. thanks guys.

What type of serial number does it have?

update- Sadly, it seems to be that the note itself doesn't have specimen on it but supposedly for legal reasons it needed to be added to the picture. which seems really odd to me, why would they need to do that? it also seems odd that it's at the same spots on the note as on most of the specimen note pictures I found on google. oh well, I wont be hitting my jackpot today but the hunt was enjoyable. :)

in regards to torgemco : 1976 no added value over face. can't read the date on red seal, but I'm guessing $10-$15 is about right
