It was a 79 Lincoln Cent and I thought that I had the O from ONE CENT on Abe's cheek. It looked raised which really didn't make much sense to me, but as I was trying to get a good scan to send to you guys and get an opinion, the whole thing started looking wrong to me. Most of the coin is dark but the O was in a patch of bright copper. The more I looked at it the more I wondered and so I pulled out some acetone and what do you know, but my error melted away. Darn! I guess it was some kind of nicely transparent glue that took an image from the reverse of another coin before it set and due to how it passed light it looked like the O was raised. Bleh. Ah well, better that I found I was wrong rather than you guys pointing it out to me. Sometimes we so much want to find an error that we see one that isn't there.

Well done tce. I think there are two things worth noting here: a) your good eye for catching this 'error', and 2) the homework/'research' you did to answer your own question. If only all questions we had were so easy to answer!
