I was doing some coin roll hunting and stumbled upon a 1981 Kennedy half dollar. The oddity is that it has a bump on each side of the coin. At first I thought it was from someone shooting the coin, but looking at the reverse, the bump is on the opposite side and no sign of anything pushing the bump from the other side. Looking at the front, the bump is on the right side of the coin or behind Kennedy. On the reverse, the bump is to the left of the coin or the eagle's right wing. Can anyone tell me if this might be worth anything or is it just worth $.50? Image: Coins 001 (sm).jpg30.91 KB Image: Coins 003 (sm).jpg37.66 KB ***Edited by Forum Dad to Fix Image filenames. It's possible there is a gas bubble present
The pictures don't seem to be working at the moment.

Sorry about the characters in the file name. Didn't know it would cause an error. Looks like it is working now.
If it was a gas bubble, is it an oddity that would increase the value or not? its just odd how it is on opposite sides of the coin. The bubble does not match up and go completely through the coin.

The bubble looks like it matches up. I am curious if you could take a side shot picture. It does have a small premium because there are always collectors of rarities and errors but I would have no clue as to venture a guess. Did you get this on ebay? I think I saw this a month or 2 ago.

I suspect that this coin has been heated to a very high temp, the gas is from the cladding beginning to separate from the copper core .
The coin looks as though it was black and has been cleaned /polished.

I'll try to get a shot from the side of the coin. By that picture you can see that the bubbles are on opposite sides. Also, if you look closely at the pics from above you can see they are different distances from the edge. Not by much, but some. I didn't get this off of ebay. I found this while doing some coin roll hunting. This roll came from the bank. I had some rolls they ordered for me from the Treasury, but this was from the first lot that the bank had.

This is the first place I have asked this question and today was the first time I ever took pics of the coin. I have had this coin in my possession for approximately two months now. Before that it had been sitting in a vault in a bank in Savannah, MO. I'm certain you HAVE NOT seen this coin before. You might have seen one like it, but it is not this coin. I did not buy this off of ebay and I have never asked anyone else about this coin.

For some reason, I keep thinking of someone flipping it in the air and firing a BB Gun at it.
