https://goccf.com/t/163172#163172Been out for a couple of weeks though I did just get an e-mail today. The odd thing is that the RCM is not yet offering the single coin. Wonder how long they will try to push the subs before offering the singles.

I expect the single coin will come as part of the regular Jan release. But who knows these days?

Yup, who knows. My rep said it would not be sold as a single but the product description suggests that it will and he's been wrong several of times before.

The'll offer the subscription. If they are some left (I do believe it will) you can be sure they will be sold as single.

I think the RCM will end up listing the coins as singles because there was a similar subscription this year for the Santa $20 for 20 but it also ended up being sold separately. If they don't, you could always buy them at the Canada Post website as they have them for sale but for $5 more. That's only if the RCM doesn't sell them separately which I highly doubt given the high mintage on the coins.

What does the Mint get out of this by selling an already established series of coins by subscription?

Quote: What does the Mint get out of this by selling an already established series of coins by subscription? Off the top of my head: - Guaranteed income stream. - Customer appreciation. I am sure there are many collectors who would rather just order it by subscription so they don't need to stay on top of new release dates / potentially forgetting to order a specific coin, etc. - Less traffic on their website for the same amount of sales.

If the Mint really cared about making a subscription series successful they'd guarantee delivery of a subscribed coin on the release date.

IMO, The Mint even doesn't think really to sell it with subscription. The target is just to "bundle" as much as possible now, prior the coins release. And later, in January, the coin (Goose) will be offered separately. To have the items as "the set" and later issue separate editions - not a new.

And they'll run off just enough coins to satisfy their subscription orders, then offer them individually, but it will take forever to receive enough orders to justify a second run, which means people will wait even longer for delivery. Which is good for the Mint, bad for everybody else. I just received notice my $20 Santa has been shipped, a mere month after I ordered it.
