Just sharing some of my collection, I know a bunch of these are out there. I pulled about 15 out of the same bag I pulled that grease filled error I shared earlier. Feel free to make a comment. Always like to hear from anyone.

This is a die crack that someone gave that name to in order to sell the ones he found. People buy these and miss out on the real value varieties.

Is there a list of varieties for these quarters somewhere? The die crack is pretty cool.

When I pulled these, that is what I called it, if someone loves collecting coins why not one of these. Its all about what people want or like. If there is a market for it why belittle it. Every coin out there has some form of die crack, that is what happens when 10s of millions of coins are stamped. Its a matter of taste and content. They will market a speared bison nickel that goes for hundreds of dollars because someone thought it was cool. I see it as a die gouge it looks nothing like a spear to me. Why not the spitting horse. So call it a lower end variety. VamWorld for the morgans has a ton of die cracks, gouges as varieties. I say if you like it, there are others may like it too.

I confess. I listed this coin on ebay in 1999 using that title.

DrDon, I thought it was cool when I pulled them in 1999, and I thought I was the first to find it. lol. So were you the first to list it on ebay? I saw some listings on ebay back in 1999, what is interesting if you look at some of these, the die crack is different, so there are different varieties of these spitting horses. That means different dies cracked in about the same place. call it what you want I like them and that is all that really matters. Just have fun searching one never knows what they may find.

I do not know if I was first. I have several rolls stashed I will have to go through them and see if I have more than one version.

All the ones I pulled from the bag I purchased are the same, when I looked them up on ebay and looked them up on google the crack is slightly in different angles here in one on ebay ICG graded it at MS65 look at that angle and then look at mine. I find it interesting there are different varieties of these.
