Hello!

I have a collection box with two sets of Vatican Euro trial coins.
Each set has 8 different coins
One set is from 2004 the other one is from 2005!

I have found similar coins and some info about them, but they don't look
exactly like these.

It seems like they could be worth some money so I'm really curious about them. The pictures is from one of the coins.

I would be really happy if someone can tell me something about these.
Sorry if my english is bad, from Sweden:)

Well the Vatican had the Euro by then, they're not trial pieces for sure, probably just something fake or tourist or something.

Thanks for reply.
I have a certificate and I know for a fact that the vatican issued euro coins between 2002-2005 that you could only get if you bought a collection set.
I understand your suspicion since these appear to be fairly uncommon. On the certificate it says 30 000 sets made for 2004, I don't know how many was made 2005.
The man on these coins depict Johannes paul II (Pope)

My question is, who issued them according to the certificate? There are well known fantasy euro coins. If they are made by British International Numismatic Agency or some smaller mints, they are not the official release.

I really don't know who issued them.
The certificate is in german.
I will see if I can take a picture of the certificate!
Rest in Peace

Because they say "essai" and "probe" on them, they are not official, legal tender Euro coins. They are made / sold by someone other than the Vatican and are basically fantasy coins made for tourists, the gullible or people who can't afford the official versions who want a place filler. Usual secondary market price seems to be about $10 to $20 for an eight coin set.

Here is a similar set of Vatican medals:

Cannot really tell what company had those made. Could be Göde/Münzkontor, see http://www.muenzkontor.de/ - but I am not sure.

Chrisild, that certificate has the same look that mine have so I think it's from the same company!
Thanks for looking it up:)
