1878 7 Over 8 Tail Feather VAM 33A?

srs77 Pillar of the Community United States 3148 Posts	Posted 12/08/2013 10:37 am I believe this one has the markers to make it a VAM 33A but am hoping for confirmation or if not confirmation a conclusion as to what it might be. I don't have a good image of the clash on the chin but it is there. Here as some shots, any thoughts on the VAM, Grade or any other info is greatly appreciated. Report this Post to the Staff

SsuperDdave Moderator United States 23522 Posts	Posted 12/08/2013 1:08 pm I have this as VAM-39, I think. 33 has far weaker "extra" tailfeathers showing. This coin has the cap gouge extending from the lower cotton leaf to the cap, making it either 34, 39 or 41. I like the tailfeathers and the "thing" under the olive branch as 39 pickups. I also looked at the LIBERTY and see the die scratch as well from the T to the Y in Liberty. So I think 39 it is. Thanks! Report this Post to the Staff
