Ive wanted one for a while. I tried for a lead severed head of Elagabalus, but I dont much like the guy, so I didnt go full on for that one. I won this for £40.

Comments? I intend to put it on a base (perhaps metal, most likely wooden). But is it real? Who is it?

(my intention is to sell this one and get a different item...maybe a head, perhaps, but hopefully an open pose god/demi god...so does anyone know if I did well or not?).

Yep. The guy has given me a 14 day period in which I can return it if it isn't all above board.

A club? Hercules, I'd guess. No idea if it is ancient.

Perhaps Artemis or someone with a bow which has snapped off and what we're seeing is a person drawing an arrow from their quiver..?

You want to really watch those little bronze statues that pop up on ebay, the amount of fake ones that come out of Eastern Europe is sickening. Whats the sellers feedback and past sales like?

I would be sceptical about this one. The front view doesn't look too bad but rear side looks lacking. The derrière looks like a botched basement plastic surgery !
Real bronze statuettes usually bring serious money esp when more or less intact. I would pass on it. Especially when you can get bronze coins that you are 99.9% sure about.

Ben,
I admire the fact that you want to get involved in artifacts. I have some pre-Colombian Mayan stuff but only one piece completely intact. I really don't know enough about Roman statues to even make an educated guess on its origin or weather or not its authentic and or valuable. It would be safe to say that something like this deserves an experts opinion. In the same breathe I wouldn't purchase any artifact of value without proper paperwork. Do so only invites disaster. If you get it for a few bucks, maybe you can get it authenticated, your in the UK so everything is relatively close by you should have no problem find such a person. Now what would it cost you to get something like this evaluated, I also have no idea. Good luck coin bro.
