pardon my ignorance but I've heard a lot of red cents and was wondering if they are like these. what may have caused this cause I have a couple withLincoln-Red-Cent?Lincoln-Red-Cent? tone varying from brown to bright red.

This is what is meant by a red cent usually.

"Red" in copper means all of the original color is present, i.e. the bright copper color.

The 69 may be red ins color, but that's more accurately described as "toning". No one can say absolutely what caused the toning - basically, it's just a chemical reaction between the coin and some unknown.
