I'm interested in getting one of these, but would like to see a real one first.
If anyone lives in Saskatoon and have one they could show me, I'd appreciate that.
If anyone has one and could take the time to take a picture of it, it would be great too. It's just that all I can find on line is the one that the mint must have put out, but it obvoisly doesn't show what the coin would truly look like. Thanks in advance. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. *** Edited by GaryN 12/11/2013 11:03 am

Keep in mind this is not an RCM product but is an after market modification done by a private mint in Germany. They have done the whole series both in colour and with gold plate highlighting. Both sets are gorgeous in hand in my opinion.

Hmmm. That looks really good kuh85. I bought an Bird's of Prey coin from New Zealand with an Owl on it, and it looked real nice in the photo shop picture, but when I got it, it looks like the owl was just plunked on the coin. Yours looks like it's really a piece of art that'll look good on display. I think you've convinced me. Now to find one for a decent price.

I have the whole set, they are my favorite set of coins. They also have prove to be a good investment as they are the only coins I own with increased value. I was fortunate to get them when they came out. The Currency Museum In Moncton has auctions for them ending tomorrow. You can see the on this site under hot Canadian coin auctions mint sets/ proof like. I forget which one, Darla is excellent to deal with, great service. They are a branch of Hub City Coins Moncton. They are limited to only 5,000 and have a COA. The best ones are: wolf/moose/bison. I got most of mine from topworldcoins both Germany/USA, when they have their auctions. The German store has better shipping only $7usa. I have 3 full sets. During summer I saw a wolf sell on ebay auction for $400. I was really surprised that an auction would go so high. I sold a bin wolf for $250 shortly after. They are truly beautiful artwork! I'm aware many collectors don't like after market painted coins. It's a personal view point. With no consensus. Now the cougar and antelope are the bottom 2 in my opinion, however, I didn't like them as bullion coins. Somehow there's something lacking in the artwork in my opinion. I just can't put my finger on it. The bison can be had for as little as $55 at auction with some patience. At least now they can be found in ca/USA . When I was looking for the wolf summer of 2012 the only North American seller was Ampex at $88 US plus shipping. I still need to get the matching gilded examples only 3,000 of each made. Of course I still need the raw bullion coins as well. I'm thoroughly enjoying the hunt for this set. A word of caution: since they are bullion coins they can develop milk spots on the obverse. I have a couple spots on moose and bison. The mint hasn't addressed the problem yet. Many joke it's how to tell its not counterfeit. The mint's unofficial security measure, if you will. Do take a look at the Currency Museum, the last three color wildlife are reasonable.

This should be in the Canadian forum. Maybe ask a mod to move it again. I wonder why they put it under Australia? I almost missed it. Also these coins auction is under Hot Coins: Canada Mint Sets 1 day left for Currency Museum auctions. It's on this site where they feature popular ebay auctions on the sidebar.

The great benefit of colorization of this series - that the coin will not be "destroyed" by milk spots. At least they probably will not be visible.

Have you tried the jewellery wipe solution for milk spots? I keep meaning to but haven't got around to it yet.

@ kuh_85, I haven't bothered to do anything with the milk spots, as they are small. Plus I don't bother looking at the queen side. I have heard people do have success with the method you mentioned. There is also another method to ridding the spots. I currently don't recall it. Both method when done carefully are supposed to leave little trace of removal. To me the spots prove they aren't Chinese counterfeit. I wonder how many other members own these coins? If I ever had to sell my coins, these I'd keep. They are my all time favorite.

I completed the bullion set a few weeks ago. A local bullion dealer had a couple sheets of Wolves, he offered to sell me a Wolf with milk spot for $35 (compared to $70-90) I picked one out with the Milk spot over the moon BUT when putting it in a holder I discovered the suspect 'milk spot' was on the plastic not coin!

I'm quite happy with them, but it comes with a black background foam and when I put it in my circular air tight with a white background, it makes it stand out way better. It's not as stunning to look at as I'd hoped. I just got the 2012 Moose one and to me, it looks even better than the wolf. I now need two more real nice colored ones to complete my display. Hope they come out with some of the same quality in the near future.

Looks very nice! The display - I mean. Thanks for sharing!
I think, in this display, the "atmosphere" of 4 silver (non-coloured) coins and in the middle - gilded one...again, very nice.

Happy Belated New Years everyone, I hope people attended some great shindigs in celebration. The set is very impressive. I wish I would of thought of this approach. The boxes were cheap enough over Christmas to get 2. The moose. Buffalo and wolf are the stars in my opinion. I'm not that crazy on the antelope or cougar. I really do like this display idea. Now to find reasonable boxes. I could of got one around Christmas for $30 shipped. It just didn't occur to me!
