My son-In-Law knows I'm big on collecting quarters. He gave me some rolls of 2013 uncirculated quarters and I don't know whether to crack them open and put them in individual 2 X 2's or should I just leave the rolls as they are? I'm curious as to whether the coins would be all of the 25 cent pieces issued during 2013 since I can see a different coin at either end of the rolls? Is that what the mint normally does? On the one hand I'm thinking I should open the rolls and view the coins for errors but the other side of my brain says to keep them in a roll as I have done for my silver uncirculated quarters. Any opinions on this?

The mint does not do different coins in single rolls so crack em open.

I am not completely sure. I would just hold on to them for now and someone with more info will come along.

order as many boxes as you can afford from your favorite bank and you're bound to get a 2013 mint box sooner or later.

I've tried with Royal bank once, they say if I want new mint roll, I have to call in advance so they can place the order, it takes time

If you make a 'special order' on Monday for say 10 boxes, your coins will arrive on Wednesday and the odds are in your favor of receiving a mint box. Deposit the others at a different bank.

To the best of my knowledge the following quarters have been issued in 2013 War of 1812 - Laura Secord colour and non colour War of 1812 - de Salaberry colour and no colour Arctic Expedition - two different types each with two different finishes Regular 2013 The mint would mix the colour and non-colour and I believe each of the Arctic Expedition but if your roll shows a 2013 Laura Secord and a 2013 de Salaberry then they are not from a new roll but probably a recycled roll. Recylced rolls are very commonly found in new shrink wrapped rolls from the mint. They do not necessarily contain new coins. This is based on my experience only and I am not aware about anything published on it.

They sometimes come randomly in boxes. You should also be able to get them by calling the Winnepeg number of the mint.

if you live in a large urban area, and determined, - you should have no difficulty obtaining mint rolls. Just waltz into any financial institution and ask.

The suspense was killing me so I cracked a roll and found the Beluga Whale frosted and the Beluga unfrosted with frosted Borreo and the Canadian Arctic expedition frosted and also unfrosted. Four different coins times 10. I see the Canadian Mint is offering a 12 pack (3 of each) for face. No postage or handling charges. 12 for 3 bucks! The rolls my son-in-law got were also at face. I ! You cAN'T LOSE WITH FACE!
