I am considering joining pcgs, I see pcgs offers free grading for membership benefits but after joining and the free grades have been sent. What does the cost per coin go for? Any help would be appreciated as I am just trying to figure out the benefit of membership as far as slabbing goes.

Has anyone heard of IGS Grading ? I have a 1970 s Jefferson nickel PR70 DCAM that was apparently graded by IGS but, I'm not even sure a PR70 exists..? and I can't seem to get any help from IGS.. Any ideas ?

Are you referring to ICG? They're known for being a little enthusiastic on Modern grading, and are the only "reputable" TPG to have graded any 1970 Jeffs as PR70. I wouldn't really feel comfortable considering such a coin as a true 70.

There are no "free" grades with PCGS. Once you factor everything in, you'll see it will cost you a good amount of money per coin. My guideline is that you need to be sure the coin will worth at least $200 after it's slabbed to make sending in coin worthwhile.

I am getting a PCGS membership for Christmas and I have just started thinking about buying another coin instead because of that very statement above. When people are saying stuff like this, is PCGS just here to CREATE a coin market by keeping some coins not graded as high? I spoke to my LCS who told me that they have also seen where it depends who sends a coin in. He had a coin that he sent in that he thought was graded MS65, it came back from PCGS MS63. The exact same coin was given to a larger shop south of us and was sent in and got a grade of MS65. IS it even worth it for me to join PCGS or should I add to my collection instead. I mean I can still submit coins through the dealers.
