Hello,

I saw this Tiberius denarius for sale for about 20-25 euro's.

Its not a whole denarius unfortunatly but the details are quite sharp.
What do you think, is it a genuine coin?

To be clear: I havent decided to buy it, even if its the real deal. its an affordable tiberius which makes it an interesting coin!

thanks in advance!

It's pretty beat up and IMO not worth the price.

It looks a bit like one of those Indian imitations of the denarius

It is probably a broken fourree ancient imitation. Look at 9:00 on the reverse edge. Doesn't that show silver foil wrapped over a copper core, which is how fourrees were made? Official denarii of Tiberius were made in high-quality silver. The copper look to the interior, although we don't have the right photo to see it well, shows it is a fourree.

I am not happy with the style, definition of the details is not good, and the weight cannot be checked with the chip.
