Figured I would add these new pictures as well (10" from the Lens). The Lighting is a bit more diffused. 100% Crop

Shot with no diffusion, and ISO at 400.

You should be noting now that, with Morgans, the reverse wants to be lit differently than the obverse. Further, the shot settings will be slightly different - the reverse will usually want a faster exposure for the same conditions as the obverse. I *really* like your last reverse image, with the "hot zone" line up on the wings. There are a few conditions where this isn't recommended - coins with wingtip anomalies - but otherwise it really gets the luster across without washing out vital locations. The wingtips aren't relevant to grading.
Tremendous stuff, man.

Looks like you have a great example of the 18-55mm lens! Best images I've seen from that lens, and very respectable images compared with ANY lens. The 100% crops are quite sharp as well, which just doesn't happen with any of the 18-55's I've tested. Don't ever sell that lens!

Thanks Dave I re-shot the 1880-S Morgan, and changed the lighting on the reverse, I think it looks a lot better. I took my best Obverse image, and the New Reverse image. I think this will be my Final Set of pictures for this coin, using the 18-55mm lens. I am happy with these images.

Huh, that lens is a little different from the one I have. Mine is marked "18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS II". It looks like this one does not have image stabilization?

I guess not.
I thought having Image Stabilization would improve the images.

The lens in the ebay auction is the EF-S USM II, the kit lens included with Rebels up to the XT as well as the 20D. The relatively coarse fins on the barrel give it away - the later IS versions have much finer graduations. It's an old, pre-IS design which isn't much wide open or wide angle, but rather nice at f/8 and the tele end. IS, if present, will be switched right next to the Manual-Autofocus switch. If your lens doesn't have that IS switch, CB, it's the old one. No biggie - IS is a hindrance in this type of imaging as it will magnify any minute shake by attempting to make up for it. The corrections are far too small for IS to manage effectively.

Not yet, I have everything except the focusing helicoid, and Extension Rings. Hopefully they will arrive this week.
