Is there a Canadian 2012 silver toonie? If so what what set was it part of? The regular 2012 specimen set only is described as a silver dollar coin and the rest struck in solid alloys: nickel (5, 10, 25, 50¢ and $2 outer ring), brass ($1 and $2 inner core) and copper (1¢), yet I see many advertisments for 2012 silver toonies.
Thanks
Arthur

Yes, the RCM actually released several.

The RCM released the "25th Anniversary of the Loonie - Fine Silver Loonie" in 2012. It sold for $34.95.

Also released was the "Lucky Loonie - Fine Silver Coin." It sold for $39.95.

They also released a silver loonie plated with gold as part of the "200th Anniversary of the War of 1812 Fine Silver Dollar Proof Set." The set sold for $224.95.

EDIT: My apologies, my weary eyes saw "l" instead of "t" - hence my reply regarding loonies. Thankfully, others were quick to give you the info you requested.

The silver 2012 Twoonie was in the war of 1812 pure silver year set at $224. I hope this helps. It also had a silver penny.

There were 2 proof sets issued. The 'Special' one described above with all the coins .9999 silver and the regular one with just the .9999 silver dollar and the rest of the coins in nickel, brass and copper as appropriate. Both have the frosted proof finish so make sure you actually get the expensive one if you're paying for it.
