Are these desirable at all? I read somewhere that the mintage was low. I find them constantly at work, and if they're worth more than face then I'll start saving them.

It is still a copper cent and IMO it is worth keeping. I save all pennies 1982 and older.

If I saved all copper pennies that I find, I'd be broke and the store wouldn't have enough change.

bugo, I hear you. However it takes 144 (roughly) penny's to equal 1 pound of copper. Current copper spot is $3.29 a pound. Just something to think about.
