I was looking through some of my stuff today and found the first five 1999 State Quarters graded PR-69 by International Numismatic Grading Service. I can remember buying these from a favorite coin dealer in 2001-2002. Anyone else have or seen these? I did a little research on CCF about this company, and I'm not sure what to think. The only year I have like this is 1999. Thanks for any info.

As far as I know, only NGC, PCGS and ANACS are well-respected for American coins (with ICCS and increasingly CCCS being used for Canadian coins). Almost every other grading company is a self-slabber who overgrades and then tosses the slabs on ebay.

only NGC or PCGS for me. For 69 and 70 graded coins I don't even trust ANACS.

Sounds like a basement slabber to me... I only trust ANACS, PCGS and NGC.. And I prefer ANACS, especially with Morgan's and varieties. They're just as good with grading as the other two, they attribute far more varieties and no rediculious membership fees. There's no reason PCGS should command a premium above the others, no reason whatsoever... it's insanity. There no better than the others when it comes to grading, and I've seen just as many mistakes and/or grades I highly disagree with in PCGS slabs as the other two... Sorry... I won't drink that cool aid... . But then again unless its a key date or pretty darn valuable coin I prefer raw all the way... (But that's just my opinion, others only like one of the other two and won't consider anything else... but that's fine... To each his own) I don't believe in the "70" grade, no coin is perfect, there's always something that can be improved upon and as far as 69's go ANACS is just as good as the other two...

1) Put coin on the ground just behind the rear wheel of your Mustang GT.
2) Reverse the car approximately 6".
3) Hold the engine at 5000 RPMs, and dump the clutch hard in second gear.
4) If you recover the coin, drop it into an MS70 INGS slab.

The good news is the 1999s are the hardest year, the bad news is the slab means nothing.

dave. You had VACookey and myself rolling here. I have said this before, and bears repeating. ANACS and ICG are the only two services I will ever use. I will purchase a coin in an NGC or PCGS slab IF and ONLY if it is a killer deal. Count me with Nathan as not drinking that idiotic swill.

SsDd- o my god, hilarious, I just about choked/laughed my tea out of my nose.. Too funny Quote: I have said this before, and bears repeating. ANACS and ICG are the only two services I will ever use. No to say that ANACS doesn't make a few errors but the numbers I've been seeing in the "top 2" slabs lately has been scary. Just on our site recently- Not attributing an extremely valuable coin (though they did fix that one), damaging a coin... Bad, small dates that are actually large, and many of them.. And these are just a few I've seen on here lately, and this is only whats been shown here, imagine what else is out there! It seems like all the ones shown are either PCGS or NGC... My guess is there rushing through coins, I mean, I get it, it's all about money but they need to pay a bit more attention to details than can equal big bucks, especially if they charge more!! Nope... I'll stick with ANACS...

Quote: It seems like all the ones shown are either PCGS or NGC... Because they do the most coins which are most likely to be sold on a place like ebay with the higher premiums. Really with how lose ANACS and ICG are with moderns you can call most of those error coins. Its one thing to attribute through pics, but theres several examples of those "errors" that could be nothing more than terrible pictures. Its not to say they dont make errors, everyone does including us which we sometimes seem to forget, but at the same time its not like errors are their new standard. Theyre still rare which is why they get the attention they do. No one blinks at an SGS error because they do such a poor job.

Well sorry to see that this post got a little of track. I know and also agree with most others opinion's about TPG, but that is not the point. I only wanted to know if anyone else has some or has seen some more of these quarters graded by this company.

They probably exist. INGS didn't exist until I believe around 2007 and I think lasted less than two years, so they would have had the opportunity to have slabbed all the years of the State Quarters.
