i would suggest cleanning the coin abit. I collect roman coins and most look like that, but once you clean it it will be more readible.

actually I saw a coin the other day from 1666 looks alot like that..hhmm

Richard,this looks like a 17th Century English traders' token,which was used as a coin.It is likely to be a Halfpenny (1/2d.) one.
