Wow, all of the imperfections become so much more clearer when you shoot at it with a camera.

Found this in my cash drawer at work when I was counting change. I noticed immediately how unusually shiny the coin was, so I kept it. Also noticed the S mint mark (prior to this point I had no clue what a proof was but knew that I had never seen the S mark before so I kept the coin to find out what it was.)

Impaired by circulation, but obviously a Proof. These have become increasingly-common in the last few years because of the economic downturn.

to the CCF ... in case I missed that the first time.

Your coin is indeed a proof strike Jefferson nickel and good eye to pick it out of your cash drawer.

Collectors call these 'impaired proofs' as they were not intended to circulate ... but many of them have done so.

Nice photos ... hopeful you stick around and share as you can.

Thanks for the replies and welcomes :D

But yeah, it wasn't hard to notice this. I always glance over my coins to see if there's anything interesting in them, and even in a dimly lit cabinet, the coin just screams "look at me!"
