HOWEVER...it does have some characteristics of a 1858...did the 1888 have a missing vine next to the "C" in cents? Sure does look like the outline of a 8 though

RMC I'm not sure about the missing vine but I sure do know what the top of a 5 and 8 looks like....

No disagreement from me. This is an example of how NOT to look at a coin. When I first took a look I did not see the remains of any digit. But, after reading the text I returned and I saw the outline. Ahem. His coins MAY have been cleaned but not by him? Using a German bank but listing in British Columbia? All signs point to ... PASS! REPORT! MOVE ON.

I was so focused on trying to figure it out from the broken vines that I completely missed the elephant in the room...the obverse lol I apologize to the the seller

If everyone was honest we wouldn't have these issues but there are those out there trying to scam and make a quick buck. I personally want to thank artdio and everyone else for trying to keep things safe for all of us.
