Hi All,

I bought my first Morgan Circulated dollar from my LCS last week and I have to say Now I see what the big interest is in them. Very nice coin dollars.

I wanted to buy 1 or 2 of the Morgans and even some Peace dollars off e-bay but worried about fakes. I would want raw Morgan's and no rare dates or anything like that. IS this a good idea? Any e-Bay sellers Anyone can recommend?
Thanks
John

I buy raw Morgan's off of ebay once and a while. As long as its a common date/MM and the seller has good feedback AND a return policy I really don't worry at all... Especially if their circulated (I only buy 64's and up, or 63's if it has especially nice, colorful toning and I still don't worry)

But photos can be quite deceiving... Until you really really know what to look for in terms of grade and cleanings you'd be better off buying from a LCS or show where you can see the coin in hand and be sure the photos arn't covering anything up, but then again buying circulated coins it really doesn't matter as much... You should be able t pick them up for not much over spot... $25+/- (even cull Morgan's sell for over spot)

And actually I find much better coins and much better deals at my local shops... They usually have thousands of MS Morgan's to leaf through... And again seeing them in hand is like note and day compared to buying from (most) photos...

I see very little, (may have missed a lot), sales of coins on this site, your advice
to buy here is very good, I would after the holidays like to buy some raw morgans, I had to sell my set 4 times in the 35 years of marriage and 4 kids, I cannot buy MS63 coins any more, I will have to settle for fine to a.u. I was only missing 15 coins but had to sell, I have been buying some in lower grades and will need probably another 20 or so. Where are they listed. CCF sales usually does not have a lot.

I know that people say that ebay is unsafe but I'd disagree. My first purchase on ebay was a $450 gold coin and at the time it was worth 5× any other coins I owned. I've never had any issue with ebay. That said price with caution.
