Thanks for the link Kena ,I guess it was about time they did something especially with the 5 pound notes which tended to look nasty after a few months in circulation .....interestingly , no mention of the twenty

Here are links to some information of what the £5 and £10 notes might look like.

Wow, the US, well..... when pigs fly, and I mean at the controls of an airplane, then maybe, nah, pigs will fly first.

Australia was the first country in the World to issue polymer banknotes into general circulation.
That event happened way back in 1988.

The first two digits of the serial number indicate the date of printing, in much the same way as coins.

So now, it is possible to collect banknotes as a date set, (if that is your 'thing'), as well as in signature combinations.

Regarding the US, they are perfectly good dollar coins that don't get used.

An earlier comment said "It's not the the first UK issued polymer note to circulate of course but looks cool."

Wonder if Bacchus2 can explain more about that statement.

Well, "UK issued" is not the same as "BoE issued". ;) Back in 2000, the "Northern Bank" (N.I., today Danske Bank) issued a £5 polymer note.
