Recently, I got a large cent in holed and chrome plated. What? The edge is reeded...even with the hole the weight is 5.60g, the diameter is 25.4mm and the thickness is 1.4mm.

And I searched all my large cents, none of their edge is reeded.

Anyone knows what is going on?

The whole edge is reeded instead of smooth.

You mean that is a real one with PMD reeded edge?

Yes some one has done this outside of the mint to make it look like an error but in reality they hurt the coin and its value.

Thank you! thedollarman! Why would they do something like that? To show off their high skill of altering coin?

I am glad to hear this is real. By the way, the reeded edge is pretty neat.I like it.LOL.

It looks like someone tried to make it look like a quarter planchet struck by the cent dies.
