Hi, I am new here & have been collecting German & Hungarian Coins. I am now starting to collect US coins & want to start with the 2013 coins. I have been unable to find a list of all 2013 coins issued so far. I am going to concentrate on years ending in 3 starting with 2013 ( don't ask, it's a long story ) If anyone has a list or a site where I can find ALL US coins of 2013, it will get me started in a big way. Thank you. This seems to be a great resource. Forgive me if the information is already here somewhere, but I could not find it Sonya

I would go to the US mint website where you could find all issues distributed by them. With the different denominations compositions and mint marks one could spend a fortune obtaining one of each.

Do you just want circulating coins or literally everything? Literally everything is quite the extensive list and very expensive.

Google the US mint website. They'll have everything on there as you search though. With all the gold and platinum coins you're probably looking at a minimum of about 15k if not 20k. The gold alone should run over 10k.
There's going to be several things you'll have to buy on the secondary market at this point. The reverse proof gold buffalo, several of the 5 oz silver America the beautiful coins, and the 2013 special American silver eagle set are all no longer sold by the mint that I can think of off the top of my head.

@basebal21: great advice to a veteran collector, for a newbie, it's scarily intimidating, the amount of cold hard cash it will require to get one of "everything" for 2013. @sonya_1: the best advice for you is to start out with the basic annual sets offered by the Mint, the proof set, the silver proof set, and the Mint set, all still available as of this writing. Study these coins so you know what you are looking at. Take your time, the main mistakes newbies make is too many indiscriminate purchases over a short span of time, and there are unscrupulous dealers that will be happy to take your money. Second, buy a copy of the RedBook and familiarize yourself with the modern coin series issued since 2000 or so. The US Mint still has a list on their website (www.usmint.gov) of all of the 2013 releases and may have it up only for the next week or so before they move ahead with their 2014 offerings. Good luck, it is an exciting time for you, just tread carefully, and this hobby should afford you a lifetime of enjoyment.

Bizy the real scary part is I think I low balled that estimate quite a bit. Looking at it now the gold buffs and eagles alone are basically going to put someone in 5 figure territory. Then theres the gold spouse, gold commems, 5 oz pucks, platinum eagles, silver commems, special sets ect before even getting into the cost of the clad stuff.
If anyone does actually accomplish that feat I would love to see a picture. It would be quite an impressive sight.

Holy Cow! I did not realize they put out so much stuff ! I may need to rethink this. I figured on maybe $2000, not $20,000
How do you US collectors afford this much stuff?

Sonya most just avoid a lot of the gold and platinum stuff or only buy specific things instead of everything. If you exclude the gold and platinum collector items it would be much more manageable. The Platinum stuff actually isn't too bad by comparison, its just that theres so many different gold coins they put out it adds up really fast.
The silver stuff will probably be in the 2k range but its much much more manageable. The clad stuff should end up being even cheaper than the silver even though they make more of it. The 5 oz silver pucks are a big part of the silver cost, but theres a lot of Silver Eagle versions they put out this year.

There are 100 different coins put out by the US Mint this year. 116 if you differentiate between circulation quality minor coins and the uncirculated coins from the set, which are slightly better made and usually a separate production run from the coins minted strictly for commerce.
The basic year set for 2013 is 54 coins and will set you back around $120. 11 additional coins of 5 silver eagles and 6 commemorative coins brings up the total to $600. 35 PM coins alone comprise 97.5% of the cash outlay for "one of everything." 10 5oz silver coins, 24 gold coins, and 1 platinum coin. The total approximately for the 100 would be $23,866.20.
Like basebal21 said, most collectors will opt only for the basic set, a few more will opt for the extra 11 coins to make a handsome extended year set, and only a handful of individuals will actually buy one of everything. The majority of sales of the higher-end PM products are to dealers and flippers. This year, I have 79/100 and may get a few more before closing the books on 2013. Basically on the PM coins, it's all about carefully budgeting and watching the spot values. Thanks for your topic, btw, I might actually try for a "one of everything" set for my 50th year in 2015. Especially if I start saving up now!
