Canadian Blacksmith Coppers Collectors:

Every year or 6 months I put out an alert to people interested in Blacksmith Tokens. As some of you know there are TWO Yahoo groups: Blacksmiths and Blacksmith-2. Blacksmith-2 is really just an extra depository of MORE information on these fascinating pieces. So if you are a member of Blacksmith Yahoo group and not a Blacksmith-2 member you are missing out on a lot of good information.

To join these groups here are the two subscription links:

blacksmithtokens-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

blacksmith-2-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

There are always a couple posted on E-Bay weekly to view. They are Canada's most precious colonial coin. Go to the Bank of Canada website and in the search box on viewing their collection on-line - type in "Blacksmith."

John,
I phrased that badly.

When I tried to subscribe to
blacksmith-2subscribe@yahoogroups.com, Yahoo sent the message "Your message was sent to a group that does not exist.....".

You are right the Blacksmith-2 signup was wrong:

blacksmith-2-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

I left a (-) out. Note the (-) before and AFTER the (2). Sorry!

Thank you, that worked.

How do you tell the difference between contemporary forgeries of British halfpennies of George III made in Canada and those made elsewhere ?

or are all contemporary forgeries of British halfpennies of George III regarded as Blacksmith Tokens ?

Indeed - for the Wood varieties of W34-46 a question and research area reserved for the next generation of collectors whether these are imported British or home done North American pieces ... some of the W1-12 seem to have been imported or made with high quality manufacturing practices due to consistent/low impurities in their alloys based on their XRF compositions ... like the Tiffins.
