Hello everyone. I just found out today that someone fraudulently charged some gold on my credit card most likely through paypal.

What is fishy is: the credit card statement says paypal jacksoncapp $494.72. I called the credit card and they said it was E. Gold to Currency Garden in Australia phone *** Private information removed by Staff. Please do not post your address/email/phone number etc. ***

The email they gave me was *** Private information removed by Staff. Please do not post your address/email/phone number etc. ***. I don't know if he was the buy or seller. I have tried in vain to find this company on ebay and online, but no luck.

ebay does have a registered member who has this address but it won't give the ebay name so I can check him out and make contact.

I also have no way of calling this phone number as I have no international calling plan and I am unemployed at the moment.

Would any of you Australian members either try to see if that company is legit and/or call the number for me or get an email address so I can contact the company?

The purchase price was $450 but totaled out to $494.72 and was charged to my credit card on June 21.

But what is really bizarre is paypal has NO record of this transaction. I am wondering if this person scammed the company and/or credit card into making them believe it was a paypal transaction.

Anyone ever heard of anything like this before?

My email is *** Private information removed by Staff. Please do not post your address/email/phone number etc. ***

If anyone could help or has advice, please email me.

Thanks

Wayne

This is the site of ASIC the "Australian Securities & Investments Commission" where you can do a search on ALL Australian companies. They all must be registrered.

I could not find a match to "E. Gold to currency garden" in Australia"

There is a company called...

1. "EGOLD" in Queensland

2. "E-Gold Training"in New South Wales

3. "E Gold On Line" in Victoria.

http://whitepages.com.au/wp/index.jsp
I searched the company names for telephone numbers here, but there was no match.

I called the phone number, interstate, (NEW SOUTH WALES) (02)4376 1360.

It is a private residence so no 'extension 61' I talked with the woman who answered and she knew nothing about the company. She seemed a very honest person and curious as to why I was calling and how I got her number, so I don't think she has anything to do with this.

So, this is all bad news.

Rigoletto, The credit card company can not charge you for money that you did not spend. It should be there problem to sort out and not yours. Don't be baggered into paying them that large amount of money.

In Australian banks, if you are charged something on your card that you belive is not yours you go to the bank and fill out a dispute form. It is then up to the bank. They should be able to check the details of where the payment has gone to even down to the account it went to. that information can be used by them but not passed on to you due to privacy act. They should handle it for you. DO NOT pay for it.

Thanks sooooooooo much for all of your help. I actually received an email from Jacksoncapper @hotmail.com this morning. It appears he is a dealer somewhere in Australia. Apparently e-gold is a transaction company that works with paypal somehow. He said he reported it on my behalf and I asked him if he could let me know where the item was mailed to.

He also said that the transaction was made in my wife's name, but she doesn't have a paypal account. There is no transactions on my paypal account. So the mystery continues. But either way, I think this has enough fishiness to prove to the credit card bank that it was not my wife or I who made the purchase.

Again my friends, my great appreciation.

Wayne....just let any of us know if you need any further assistance.

Still take it up with your bank/credit card company just in case.

I want to thank you all for the help that you have given to me while I had to deal with this issue. I am very grateful.

The good news!!! Using all that you have given me and the many calls that I have made to the credit card and paypal and emails to Currency Garden, I have been able to freeze the culprit's e-gold account in Florida! The New York State Police are investigating and hoping the suspect is a US citizen so we can have them arrested. Paypal reimbursed my credit card on Thursday!

Thanks again! Sometimes you can fight back and win. :)
