I cannot say I had the pleasure of digging this coin but my good metal detecting buddy did. I ended up the new owner of this coin today!

I actually DID dig one just like this and that coin was posted here last year in October.

These coins are so exciting to me that I figured this one was worth posting as well.

The coin is very very rough and really only looks decent in hand when held at an angle in direct sunlight. Most of LIBERTY is visible and the date is also visible in hand.

My coin was graded "FR-02 details, heavily corroded". This coin might get the same grade, possibly "AG-3 details, corroded".

These pics make it look like complete crap.

Very cool find! It does indeed look like a green/copper disc in the photos, but I know what you mean about the details coming out in hand. Its always great to find something like that detecting! My oldest detecting find to date is only a 1917-S Lincoln Penny.
